Jessica Galea joined the Firm in 2003 as a legal trainee during her university years. She graduated as a Doctor of Laws (LL.D) from the University of Malta in 2008 and was admitted to the Bar in January 2009. She read a Masters Degree at the IMO's International Maritime Law Institute, and graduated LL.M. (IMLI) in May 2009 after which she joined the Firm full time.
During her university studies, Jessica completed the Malta Institute of Financial Services Practitioners (IFSP) Trusts Law course in 2007 and formed part of the Editorial Board for the Maltese Trusts Law Cases and Materials Volume Two, published by the IFSP, Malta in 2009.
In the Winter of 2007/8 Jessica was selected as a stagiaire with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Taxation and Customs in Brussels, Belgium, mainly assigned to attend and participate in meetings on the final stages of the drafting of the Modernised Community Customs Code and amendments to EU customs regulations.
Jessica is a member of the Malta Chamber of Advocates and the Malta Maritime Law Association (MMLA), and forms part of the MMLA’s yachting sub-committee. Jessica also represents Dingli & Dingli Law Firm as a member of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, and since 2023 is a committee member of the Malta Chamber of Commerce’s Yachting Services Business Section. She was elected Secretary of the Super Yacht Industry Network Malta in 2024.
Jessica works on all shipping and yachting related matters within the Firm, including yacht and vessel registrations under Malta and other jurisdictions; advice relating to ship and yacht sale and purchase; marine finance and mortgage registration; setting up of shipping organisations; assistance from a legal perspective with the establishment of yacht leasing structures including finance and operating leases; yacht importation procedures; and advice on various regulatory issues.
