Legal Notice (LN) 271, entitled Fantasy Sports (Exemption) Regulations, came into force on the 1st August 2016.  It defines "Fantasy Sports" and, or "Fantasy Sports Game" as a contest played for money or money`s worth whereby the winning outcome is determined predominantly through the skill or knowledge of the player, and where the results are determined by the accumulation of statistical results of the performance of a number of individuals in sporting events.  The said LN exempts a person offering a Fantasy Sports Game from the requirement of obtaining a licence in terms of the Remote Gaming Regultaions but it introduces a notification requirement, which requirement is at the discretion of the Malta Gaming Authority.
