The 21st International Maritime Conference 2025 in Estonia brought together key players in the European maritime industry with the main take ways being innovation, resilience, and competitiveness. Inevitably, discussions also touched upon the Artificial Intelligence and how this is advancing, particularly in fuel optimization, maintenance on board and crew upskilling. The conference also addressed the need for the adoption of clean fuel and clean technology, while also covering challenges in scaling alternative fuels and the possibility of shipowners incurring double payments under the EU ETS and IMO Net Zero policies. Overall, the conference sought to charter the way forward in addressing these key aspects whilst taking into consideration the current geopolitical issues in Europe and beyond.
